Raspberry and garrigue scents are the hallmark aromas and flavour profiles of this 2022 Cairanne from Domaine Roche. Medium to full bodied and chock full of red berry fruit alongside wonderfully soft and dusty tannins. This is a wine to drink over the next 4-5 years. Perfect served alongside lamb, roast beef and aged cheese.

There is always something thrilling about Cairanne. The ancient hilltop village and beautiful hillsides do nothing to dispel this feeling, and even tasting in Romain Roche's exceeding cold and damp cellar cannot detract from the experience. Among all the villages allowed the title of Côtes du Rhône Village, Cairanne stands out. With the local AOP having finalised the boundaries and updating its rules it appears that 2014 will mark the inaugural vintage of Cairanne as a Cru.

Despite being one of the youngest winemakers in Cairanne and owning one of the newest domaines in the village, Romain Roche is descended from generations of winegrowers. He currently farms 25 hectares on a rocky plain bordering Rasteau and Plan de Dieu.

In January 2023 James visited the Southern Rhône, visiting domaines and tastings hundreds of wines. It is fair to say that the wines of Domaine Roche left an impression. We are thrilled to share Romain's wines with you.
