      Tasting Notes and Description
Founded in 1880 by Adriano Ramos Pinto, this Port House has always had a pioneering spirit - from the distinctive and stylish ‘art nouveau’ advertising from the 1900s to the continuing wide ranging vineyard research with results that have benefited the whole port trade. Champagne Louis Roederer, now the majority shareholder, perpetuates this philosophy and ensures continuity in a company renowned for wine-making excellence.

Made from high-quality wines of the Quinta de Ervamoira by blending harvests of different years. The new wines make it robust and fresh while the oldest wines give it complexity and ‘lineage’. Its characteristic aroma and palate are the result of the artistry achieved by the head of the tasting room.

The 10 year old tawny is made with high quality wines from the Quinta de Ervamoira holding in the far upper Douro by blending wines of harvests from different years. The new wines give it the vigour and freshness and the older wines complexity and pedigree. Smooth and full-bodied on the palate with fresh soft fruit finishing with a light acidic woody note. Good structure and a perfect balance between fruit and alcohol.

Serve between 14¼ and 18¼ CTry alongside desserts made from dried fruit and nuts, orange marmalade and eggs pastries.

"Beautifully focused and balanced, this has fine mid-palate weight for the category and a complex medley of concentrated flavors on the finish. Quite gripping, it is beautifully done and rather impressive, while always remaining graceful and impeccably balanced. There is very respectable tension on the finish, too, that enlivens the wine. Taste this in isolation and you'll think my score is pretty stingy, but remember that there does need to be some headroom when we step up to the long-aged Tawny treasures. This may have been my favorite 10 Year Tawny this issue.
      91 Points."
