Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana was founded in 1792 and since then the firm has passed from father to son, being today one of the few winemaking companies managed by the family and directed by the eighth generation in direct line of the founder.

Intensely rich with pervading walnut aromas. The palate is dry, intense, rich and deep with a long and powerful flavour. Dried figs, raisins, toffee and coffee, as well as orange peel and a salty note on the nose. The palate was full and balanced, between a citrus and caramel character.

The 'Faraon' is the head of an Andalusian gypsy family. The grapes are sourced exclusively from their own vineyards in Balbaina and Miraflores. Matured in casks of American oak in a "solera" or "fractional blending" system, in the coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The maturation is an oxidative process as no flor is allowed to grow since the wine is fortified after vinification. Then follows an average of seven years of ageing in cask, to give a dry and wonderfully complex wine.

A pungent aperitif, but also great with many foods such as tapas, soup, dry cheeses and even beef.

"Amber colour. Deep, nutty and savoury, almost smoky and honeyed with notes of burnt caramel and fresh fudge. The palate shows silky, nutty weight and espresso. Bittersweet, long and broad on the finish this is powerful but perfectly balanced. Drink to 2027.
