      Tasting Notes and Description
Deep purple-red in colour, the bouquet is packed with red fruit and plum notes. It is spicy, meaty, and with smoky notes alongside freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate hints.

The palate is rich and full, concentrated, with beautifully structured complexity, fruity with flavours of sour cherries, stewed prunes, and spicy with notes of white pepper and smoky bacon. Already silky smooth with good depth and density. Long and lingering aftertaste. Firm with some boldness. Tannins are pronounced and with high acidity, which no doubt, with time, all will get well integrated.

After months of careful nurturing, the grapes are hand-picked in the early morning and brought cool and dew-fresh to the cellar, to await their metamorphosis at the skilful hands of the winery's full-time winemaker; Shaun Meyeridricks, formerly of Boekenhoutskloof.

Nestling in the Bovlei Valley, just outside Wellington, the Andreas Wine Estate is a hidden gem comprising 4.5 hectares of vineyards, an elegant eighteenth-century house and lush gardens. Archaeological evidence suggests that the site of Andreas was occupied more than 300,000 years ago by the Acheulean people.

In 2015 the estate was acquired by a group of U.K. wine enthusiasts under the banner of Andreas Wine Trading. Their ambition is to build on the heritage and reputation of the estate and its wine, taking both to new heights.

Long, hot summer days, cooled by late afternoon breezes, chilly, wet winters and decomposed granite and shale combine to provide the perfect terroir for Andreas' Syrah. Small, dark and flavoursome berries are at the heart of this noble cultivar, transformed into magnificent wine in their cellar.

IWC Silver Medal Winner 2024: "Lovely notes of rich cassis with hints of mocha. Enticing menthol and eucalyptus with a spicy finish."
