A Mencía that is an intense ruby red in colour. On the nose, ripe blackberry and blueberry aromas and beautifully balanced smoky cedar oak notes. Red fruit notes fuse with a silky smooth, mouth wateringly juicy, herbal rounded palate resulting in a persistent finish. 8 months ageing in French oak barrels.

Ideal when paired with meats and cheeses. Best served at13 to 16°C.

Bierzo is diverse and complex as you can see in its geography and climate. Situated in the northwestern part of Spain in Castilla y León on the border with Galicia. It has 9,100 acres of vine planted on a mixture of fine elements, quartz and slate.

The vineyards are planted mainly on humid, dark soil that is slightly acidic and low in carbonates. Bierzo DO has a special microclimate, which is optimal for viticulture. The low altitude means that the grape harvest is usually about one month earlier than in Castilla.
