Nadal

Dating back to 1510, the Nadal estate has passed from father to son, faithful to the Catalan tradition. The vineyards have been cultivated and wine made ever since.

In 1941 Ramon Nadal Giró started big transformations in the cellar. He repossessed the vineyards took by the army and used as a Airfield during the Spanish Civil War, and built, twenty metres below the ground, the foundational cellar, which still looks after the most appreciated products of the winery.

Following the transformation taken on by Ramon at the end of the Spanish Civil War the business reoriented itself to the production of sparkling wines. Due to this the first bottle of Nadal Brut was born in 1943. From then on the Nadal winery has been producing great long aged sparkling wines following the traditional method. Since 1998, with the third generation of the family in charge of the winery, Nadal started to produce white wines.

At Nadal the cultivation is primarily focused on Penedès historic white grape varieties:  macabeu, xarel·lo, parellada, xarel·lo vermell, and malvasia de Sitges.

The vines, some of which are over 80 years old, yield balanced and high-quality grape productions.

The estate produces more grapes than needed to cover its entire own harvest production, enabling them to selectively choose the best grapes for crafting their corpinnats and white wines.

Corpinnat

Corpinnat are sparkling wines produced exclusively in the Penedès wine region, reflecting the personality of a territory. This is why they are committed to the native and historic grape varieties of Penedès, those that best express the terroir and are the protagonists of the sparkling wines. At Nadal, they produce most of them with the traditional blend of xarel·lo, macabeu, and parellada, while also embracing other interesting varieties like malvasia de Sitges and xarel·lo vermell.

It is a quality label for their sparkling wines that certifies their origin and it is also one of the most demanding production processes in the world, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Some of the principles of this collective brand include organic cultivation of vineyards, manual harvesting, on-site vinification, minimum aging of 18 months, and a commitment to historical varieties.
