Dominio de Tares

Founded in 2000, Dominio de Tares was a pioneer in the revival of wines from El Bierzo, bringing experience and professionalism to a sector that was fragmented and poorly structured at the time. The aim of the Dominio de Tares winery and its founders is to enjoy the wines they make and show the world the quality of their vineyards.

Located in the region of El Bierzo (León), the winery is in a privileged area surrounded by vineyards of exceptional quality and the basis of our success comes from a careful selection of plots and the recovery of vineyards, whose enormous potential was not being exploited or that had been completely abandoned.

Since its inception, Dominio de Tares has promoted local viticulture to bring it into a global context.

Always working on the basis of native varieties from the north of Spain not available in other regions of the world, taking them to countries as varied and far away as Japan, Australia, Switzerland, Mexico or Russia.

The vineyard, made up of the native Mencía and Godello varieties, has been selected after an intense search for the best plots of land in the DO Bierzo, locating the most interesting soils and locations.

In their state-of-the-art facilities they follow a traditional philosophy of production with manual harvesting, vinification by estate and site, manual selection of the grapes, fermentation with native yeast... Their aim is to produce great red and white wines that fully express the pure character of the Bierzo valley, with the minerality, elegance and ageing potential of the Bierzo Alto and the intensity and structure of the Bierzo Bajo.
