Domaine des Aubuisières

The Domaine des Aubuisières has 33 hectares on the best terroirs of the Vouvray appellation. The vines are spread over 2 types of soils, clay-limestone 75% (on the hillsides) and clay-siliceous (on the edges of the plateau) which allows them to offer all the richness, complexity and potential of Chenin Blanc, also called Pinot de Loire.

80% of the vineyard is located on the first slopes of Vouvray. It benefits from the affluence of the Loire and the benefits of the mother rock, a sedimentary rock rich in organic matter.

The vineyard has several terroirs, which allows the Domaine to work with different wines with a unique typicity, depending in particular on the orientation of the plots and the composition of the soils.

Recently purchased back into the family of the original winemaker, Charles (Grandson of Gérald Bruley des Varannes) and Menehould Lesaffre are committed to managing the Domaine with the desire to reveal the best of Chenin Blanc through innovation while respecting history and the terroir.

The Environment

Each vine is cultivated with care, respecting winemaking traditions and natural balances. Committed to a sustainable approach, they promote responsible viticulture that values biodiversity and preserves their terroirs for future generations.

Organic conversion: Since 2023, they have begun a transition to organic farming, convinced that living and healthy soils are the foundation of an exceptional wine.

Soil Work: The soils are worked with precision to preserve their structure, promote aeration, and allow the roots to take deep roots, thus expressing all the richness of their terroir.

Development of Biodiversity: They encourage life in their plots by preserving auxiliary fauna and diversifying the natural areas around the vineyards.

Hedge Maintenance and Planting: True refuges for biodiversity, the hedges they maintain and plant play a key role in protecting against erosion, enriching the soil, and preserving local ecosystems.

These practices reflect their philosophy: to combine passion for the vine and respect for the environment, to produce wines that reflect the authenticity of their terroir and the beauty of their region.

The Terroir

Their terroir consists of clay-limestone and clay-siliceous soils, the plots are grassed and bordered by trees and hedges.

This plant wealth ensures the preservation of biodiversity and the development of fauna.

Butterflies feed on certain insects that are harmful to the development of the vine.

In addition, it acts as a natural barrier for the vine by reducing the risk of runoff and erosion.
