Domaine de la Vieille Julienne

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne was founded in 1905. Like many producers in the Southern Rhone at that time, the fruit was harvested and sold to negociants and bottled and sold under various names. In the 1960’s Maxine Daumen changed this and started bottling under the Domaine de la Vieille Julienne name.

Following on from Maxine, Jean- Paul Daumen, started working at Domaine de la Vieille Julienne in 1990, with his son, Antoine now being primed to take over the estate.

Domaine de la Vielle Julienne consists of 20 hectares in a single bloc. Old vines with an average age of 60 years make up the vineyard which is split into red Chateauneuf du Pape and red and white Cotes du Rhone.

The north facing terroir of slopes and its microclimate gives to the vineyard a unique benefit, allowing the vines to be well protected to the extreme climatic conditions of the Southern Rhone Valley. This along with their rocky, sandy soil helps allow Domaine de la Vieille Julienne to produce singular, harmonious and balanced wines.
