Bright and clear, with high depth. Cherry-black colour with bluish iridescence. Aromas very typical from this variety, with balsamic and mineral hints from the Cabernet but with the signature of Finca Antigua, nuances of dairy and undergrowth, indicating the freshness obtained due to the altitude of the estate.

Robust, with a lot of backbone initially, unfolding a full-bodied sensation horizontally and vertically. Certain grape tannins provide fleshiness and above all a great freshness that cleans the palate. The oak coming through after with a long and persistent finish.

It is a good accompaniment to red meats and lamb. Ideal for big game dishes such as venison or casseroled wild boar. Great with aged sheep and goats' cheese.

Familia Martínez Bujanda acquired Finca Antigua at the beginning of 1999 and opened the new winery in 2003. Finca Antigua, at an altitude of over 900 meters, has 421 hectares of vineyards in production and 550 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland. In the different plots, foreign varieties with great potential for adaptation to the terroir are grown, while also conserving the native varieties. They are used to produce a collection of surprising, creative and avant-garde wines that express the personality of this unique terroir.

The 38 hectares of the plot Las Mateas provides the grapes for this wine, a maroon colour with spicy aromas, that after their ageing in barrel, combines aromas to cedar, coconut and cocoa.
