Powerful entry on the palate, very marked notes of fruit and roasted notes with a creamy mid palate and well-marked tannins with a perfectly integrated acidity. In the aftertaste, the black fruit is still present in its sweetest facet, blackberries, plum. The wood is perceived very well assembled with those toasted, smoked and spicy notes typical of French oak aging as well as roasted and cocoa in its sweetest facet. It is a powerful and structured wine that is elegant and complex at the same time. Admirable persistence.

Perfect to accompany grilled meats, stews, game stews and chocolate desserts.

Ready for drinking, it will continue to develop in the bottle. Decant 30 minutes before serving to oxygenate. It may contain sediments as it has not undergone any filtration process to get a more natural wine, but this does not affect the quality of the wine.

Familia Fernández Rivera planted the first vineyards in 1988. They did so on the banks of the Douro River, on land that has now become a legend. At present, Condado de Haza has 200 hectares of vineyards with 100% Tempranillo, the trademark grape of all four wineries of Familia Fernández Rivera.

To perfect its wines—all made using Tempranillo—the structure of this winery was designed by digging a hill. What’s more, it has a bottle cellar in a tunnel almost 30 metres deep.
